Three Budd cars and a fire |
Description: |
Thanks to Jeff Murphree. Another photo showing two A&WP cars with fire between them and L&N car nearly destroyed. Unbelieveable how a laddar was put up under the L&N car to get to the passengers. Do you see the crosstie proped up next to the laddar to keep the car from rollng over ? |

Google Earth View of scene of Woodstock Wreck. This is what the scene looks like today. It has changed very little in the 60+ years since this deadly wreck except the L&N branch line has been abandoned. I tried to capture this as close to the original pic |

View from the L&N |
Description: |
This picture was recently posted on Facebook. Apparently taken by a "tourist" who came to check out the wreck. It shows the scene looking down the L&N line which ran under the Southern mainline. You can see the derrick picking up cars and the L&N RPO/Baggage car. |

Rescue |
Description: |
Another photo thanks to Jeff Murphree. This shows the rescue efforts. A close look will reveal that the rescuers are trying to get one or two people out of the mangeled wreckage. There is a big difference in how this is done today. |
