Description:  This is a nice Baldwin builder's photo of Georgia, Florida & Alabama 2-10-0 decapod #402. The Georgia, Florida & Alabama was known as the Sumatra Leaf Route, but colloquially as the "Gopher, Frog & Alligator" line. The loco was absorbed into the Seaboard Air Line as SAL #526. The final dispostion is unknown. Specs - 56" drivers, 190 psi boiler pressure, 24x28" cylinders, engine wt of 212,000 lb and tractive effort of 46,512 lb.

Specs - serial #61234, D-3 class, 56" drivers, 190 psi boiler pressure, 24x28" cylinders, engine weight of 212,000 lb, tractive effort of 46,512 lb. The class was retired between 1952-53 but several were sold to Georgia Gainseville Midland.

A note on the back of the photo states "Shot near Cumberland, MD. Taken from an old photo 2 1/2 x 4" taken by a box camera in 1938 (I have the neg of this)" by an unknown photographer. SpecfIcs - I-2 class, 61" drivers, impressive 240 psi boiler pressure, 30x32" cylinders, engine weight of 419,280 lb, impressive tractive effort of 96,315 lb. The date used in 1938 is approximate.

Title:  RDG 2-10-0 #1129 - Philadelphia & Reading
Description:  This is one of only four Decapods built for the Reading by Baldwin in 1916. It was a J-1sa class with small 52" drivers, generating 180 psi in boiler pressure for its 25"x28" cylinders. The engine wt was 208,400 lb and it was able to produce a respectable tractive effort of 51,490 lb. After realizing that the Decapod just didn't fit the Reading motive needs, all four were scrapped in March of 1935. Date is approximate. Bud Laws photo
