PC Sleepers
Title:  PC Sleepers
Description:  Three months after the establishment of Amtrak, the westbound LAKE SHORE LIMITED -- at that time identified as train No. 69 -- arrives at Chicago Union Station. Stored in the Coach Yard are a couple of Penn Central FLEXI-VAN flat cars and some retired PC sleepers. The closest sleepers can be identfied as two of the 26 cars renamed by the Pennysylvania in 1956-57 for service on the PITTSBURGHER. The Tuscan Red car is PC 4390 RICHARD BEATTY MELLON, a 4-4-2 built by ACF in 1948 as the IMPERIAL CLIFF; while the next car is PC 4345 H. J. HEINZ, a 10-6 built by P-S in 1948 as the TOWANDA RAPIDS.
