The former ACL passenger depot in Dothan is getting a much needed facelift. It will be used as a mass transit station, buses only, when completed but it's proximity to the CSX mainline certainly leaves open the option of a return of intercity rail passenger service. The depot served ACL, SCL, and the Amtrak Floridian before the 1979 funding cuts ended rail passenger service to Dothan. The shed closest to the camera has been added during the renovation and was not part of the original depot area however pains were taken to have it match the look of the old depot. |
