| When this shot was taken at Shreveport in 1964, KCS 24 was near the end of its career. In 1962 and 1963, the railroad had purchased five used E7's from the Maine Central, allowing it to retire its three remaining pre-war E-units: E3A 21 and 22 and E6A 24.
