Gulf Mobile & Ohio 740 - the first of the railroad's 15 GP38-2's - was leading train No. 33 through Slidell. The train was on the Southern Railway siding, and was about to cross the extension of Fremaux Avenue just south of the Southern depot. In about a hundred yards the train would enter the Southern's main line for the continuation of its trip to New Orleans. (approximate date) |
