Prevosto. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1950. Prominent here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6729 and another locomotive whose road number is not recorded. #6729 is an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an M-1A during May of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in April of 1949, and retired in February of 1958 after 28 years of faithful service. One track over, note the two steam engines pushing a westbound mixed-cargo freight train. Photo taken from Juniata's 8th Street Bridge. |
