Title:
PRR 8627, AS-18M, 1964
Description:
HOLLY. Here is an original photo that I took at HOLLY Block in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 8 August 1964. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8627, an AS-18M built by the American Locomotive Company in February of 1957 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. It's pulling a 24-car mixed-cargo freight train on the Bedford Secondary Track. The train has stopped for the moment so that the Fireman can call WYE Tower to secure permission to pass through HOLLY Block on its way to the Altoona Yards. The cabin car's number is 477746.
